Nice weather, and still no bike
Soon, very soon. I got the valve cover off finally after it warmed up a bit, and I was able to hit it hard enough with a rubber mallet. The hardened gasket is cemented to one surface or the other, it is taking *forever* to scrape it off using gasket remover, a putty knife, and a razor blade. I’m sure people think I’m nuts doing this, replacing gaskets and rebuilding the carburetor on a 23 year old bike with 32k miles on it, but honestly, I’d rather learn bike mechanics on this bike than the new Harley I’ll be buying next year (yeah, right, I should qualify that with “God willing”).
Joy was watching me scrape away, and said, “You have amazing patience. I said. “What other choices do I have at this point”? We saw “Wild Hogs” at the theatre last night. Good movie, beware the swearing. Makes me want to go cross-country on my little Honda.
Gotta get the bike done this week, got to.
